ELMAR is the umbrella for the Division's several initiatives in the field of information technology and the internet which were introduced in 1994.

The first of these is Church Net UK. It collates and provides easy access to church-related sites on the internet,
regional, national and international. It is a source of information, news and prayer, which is invaluable both
for active church members and for anyone studying Christianity.

The second is RE-XS, the Religious Education Exchange Service. This provides a service for the
study of World Religions. It helps meet the research needs of students whether in school or in higher education
by collating materials and contacts in the fields of religious education and moral education.
It also has a major interactive section to facilitate contacts between students and/or teachers. It is co-ordinated by Carolyn Reade.

The third is PHILTAR, a reference facility for Philosophy, Theology & Religion. It filters and collates existing
internet sites and materials, as well as generates original resources including the Electronic Encyclopedia of Religion.
It is directed by Elliot Shaw and Trevor Curnow.
