In
the first two years we have been exploring our call to life and to a disciplined
way of life and this has given food for thought on how we might learn skills and
new ideas on how we can begin to be of effective service to others?
The third year theme is about exploring the idea of service, This call to service is following a call to simple action, that could be just listening to another (Yr2), Making a drink for another, accepting another for who they are. In true service it is this call to just doing the small simple task of being there for another in whatever capacity is appropriate. This also means being accountable and responsible for my decisions and actions? We learn about particular competences such as; being a team member, adopting different roles, developing a deeper understanding of self in ministry, and developing inter personal relationships. In learning how to take a lead role or a role of leadership we explore a model of relational leadership.
We are called to put all the learning from the first two years in to practice in actually managing authority within the process of running yourselves as a board and organising ourselves as a group to coordinate consultative committee meetings for the Christian Ministry degree. We applied the learning from the learning curve (Yr1) and Competence Cycle (Yr1 & 2). The diversity of ideas on how this could be done brought a treasure to this year, as we utilised peoples skills where they could be best employed and how we could learn from doing work that was not in our skill competence so that we could become more competent in our weaknesses. We learn how to develop supportive relationships while managing change. The way we engaged with this theme is as follows:
